EP215 Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe | Ken Courtright’s Today’s Growth | Growing Business Today

TGN 215 | Marketing Principle

One strong marketing principle that Ken has stumbled upon came from his friend Lee Williams who said, “Your vibe attracts your tribe.” Taking this, Ken reflects on how marketing has to do with having people resonate with your message. These people thus are your tribe who connects with your vibe. The more you find these people, the better your business will be. Learn how to find your own tribe.

Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

This is a quick shout out to Lee Williams. I was talking to Lee at a mentoring session at GMP in Martha’s Vineyard. He took me aside and he said something. I love this line. He goes, “What’s cool is your vibe will attract your tribe.” He was working this into some teaching that he was teaching someone else. I’m going to steal it from Lee and take it in a couple of different directions. One of the things that my wife and I see out there is a lot of people marketing to what the great consultant, Ed Bogle, calls el mundo. A lot of people want to market their gym shoes or their artwork to el mundo. That’s the world. The reality is you don’t want to do that.

You never want to do that. Marketing to el mundo is incredibly expensive and efficiently ineffective. It can’t ever work and it’s silly. Where do you market your tennis shoes or your artwork? You market to your tribe. Who’s your tribe? Your tribe is exactly who your vibe attracts. My vibe is a magnetism to the business owner. It’s a magnetism to the entrepreneur. It’s a magnetism to the husband who cannot wait to get his wife home from work. My vibe is a magnetism to the woman who wants to get her husband home from work. My vibe is to the college student who looks at his parents and says, “I don’t want their life. There’s no way I’m going to grind it for 40 years and retire with nothing.” My message and my vibe has attracted a tribe worldwide that resonates with my message.

I don’t go hunting in el mundo for the people that want to grow their business. They will find me because they resonate with my vibe. In honor of Lee Williams, I love that line. That is a strong marketing principle. You market to people that resonate with your message. You don’t market to everybody. Here’s a quick little ditty on how to build a tribe. Find tribes that exist in other people’s platforms. In my case, I love helping people understand that your income is directly tied to your self-image. It’s a fact, it’s not theory. What you think you’re worth is exactly how much you’re going to make in the next twelve months. If you think you’re worth $30,000, that’s what you’re going to make. If you think you’re worth $230,000, that’s what you’re going to make. If you think you’re worth $2.5 million, that is exactly what you’re going to make. That has been proven by Brian Tracy, Yale, and others.

Think and Grow Rich: or Men and Woman who Resent Poverty

I love teaching this principle because I find that many people listen to what I have to say and they go on a journey of self-discovery and they read the greatest books, Think and Grow Rich. They read The 5 Love Languages so they can get along with their spouse, which will, in turn, help them raise their self-image. They read the critical books like Og Mandino’s University of Success. That’s not an optional book. He took the best ten pages of the best 52 books that impacted his amazing life and chronologically put them in order that if you never got past high school, if you never got past eighth grade, if you start with chapter one and you finished with the final chapter, it’s like you physically went to the greatest university that could ever be built for creating success at leadership and making money.

The point is my vibe resonates with people is longing, searching, yearning, willing to work their ass off until they succeed. My vibe resonates with people that understand the phrase, “Don’t get good, get done.” Just finish. Who cares if it’s good? I want you to ask yourself, “What is your vibe?” If your company had a vibe, what is it? If your company has a message, a meaning, a purpose, what is it? Write it out. If it was an animal, what would it be? If it was a sentence, what would it be? If it was a song, what would it sing? If it was a vibration, what color would it be?

You might want to do some discovery with Bob Proctor. You might want to read some of Bob Proctor’s books. Wait until ten to twenty years after he passes, he will go down as a Napoleon Hill or a Carnegie. There is no question and he’s still doing it. He’s still hitting it at 83 years old. He can’t stop. He’s going to die with his boots on. The guy is a living legend, no question. Your vibe will attract your tribe. You will build an audience of people that continually buy your product. You will if you get your message and your vibe out to the world in any and every platform that will take you. I hope that helps. Take care.
