The Ultimate Troubleshooting
This is episode 148. It’s called The Ultimate Troubleshoot. Have you ever been faced with a challenge where it is dire? It could be you’re 60 days from running out of money, you know you have an employee you absolutely have to let go. You know that the product you have is inferior or you’ve got to come up with a new product, but you have no idea where to begin. It doesn’t matter what’s dire. The fact is we live life either in a storm, coming out of a storm or going into a storm. It’s it. We’re either in one right now, we came out of one or things might be great, but let me tell you something, you’re about to go in one. It’s called life on planet earth. It’s called entropy. I have created and used my own troubleshooting formula and I would love to challenge everybody reading this to try this and see if it doesn’t work for you.
This is called the Ultimate Troubleshoot. When I get into a massive jam and I know I’ve got a week to ten days to figure something out and I know it’s on me, it’s not someone else’s problem, this is what I do. Step one, I set up Google Alerts. I come up with 10 to 15 different phrases that are going to lead me to either experts in the field, phenomenal books or resources, great articles published or people have maybe written a case study dealing with this challenge. If you’ve never used Google Alerts before, I have an episode on how to use Google Alerts or you can go to YouTube and have a twelve-year-old show you how to use it.We live life either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or going into a storm. Google alerts is one of the most unsung tools in the world. It’s phenomenal. Number one, Google Alert the heck out of your challenge. Number two, sign up for getAbstract. It’s all book summaries. I have no idea what the cost is, but I would recommend you get 3 to 5 books, summaries that deal with your challenge. They are written by experts that have dealt with, counseled on and spoke on your current challenge. If raising money is your challenge, there are dozens of books in getAbstract about how to quickly raise money. getAbstract has a little bit of everything.
You don’t have to read the whole book. It’s summaries. If you like summaries, you can order the book or the audio. Number three, this is the key, make a list of who can help me. It is no less than ten and no more than 50 and you brainstorm. You go into a dark, quiet place, turn off your phone and your email, and you write down whatever 10 to 50 names come at you of people that can help you through this challenge. This has nothing to do with you paying them for help. This is, “Who could you call the counsel with? Who could you call to talk to who might have dealt with this issue before?” Quite frankly, in years past, I’ve called my competitors for help and advice and it’s funny, they helped. People have an innate desire to help. You have probably heard my previous episode about the case study where people went into South Central LA at 2:00 in the morning and this is a white person asking for directions, 100% of the time these guys give directions. They have an innate desire to help.
Your magic is going to come this way. Number one, Google Alerts are going to give you fodder that you’ve never thought of before. Number two, getAbstract is going to open your eyes to different methodologies you would’ve never thought of like what Einstein says, “The brain that got you into the jam cannot get you out of the jam.” You’ve got to have the getAbstract summaries for you to germinate a plan. Who can help me? You’ve got to do Googlers first and abstract second, and then all of a sudden when you call these guys for help, you’ll somewhat understand what they’re saying. Number four, the ultimate troubleshoot can’t be done without number four.
You unplug for 48 hours. No email, no phone, no Skype, it’s only you and a notepad. It’s like doing Zen yoga by yourself in a dark room and a lot of coffee. You plow through and you listen to what God, the world, and what your self has to say. Something is going to come bubbling out of you and you’re going to know it. You’re going to be euphoric. You’re going to have a Eureka moment. If you do this right, it is so stinking powerful. If anybody wants to do this, if you’re in a challenge and you can use this technique to rip through it, I would love as many case studies as I can. I’m going to do an episode if anybody decides to confide in and share their experience, contact me at Ken@IncomeStore.com. I’d love to read your results of the ultimate troubleshoot. That’s if you want us to share it with the world.
I’m going to add a little nugget. The reason step four is so important is I was at church many years ago. A new pastor came in. He said, “How many out there worked their brains off and can’t wait for the weekend?” A lot of us raise their hands. He says, “Here’s what I’m here to tell you, business owners, managers, and drivers out there, you do not rest from your work. You work from your rest.” He went on to say that God plants visions in you. He shares dreams with you. The world physically speaks to you when you’re resting. You can go to work from what you learned from your rest. The famous book is called Think and Grow Rich. I’ll leave you with that. Take care.
