EP254 The Cost of Waiting | Ken Courtright’s Today’s Growth | Growing Business Today

TGP 254| Cost Of Waiting

Are you waiting to do something at this moment? Have you ever thought about why? For some, waiting is all they do when they could actually do it right away. If you are in this place and just waiting at a stand-still for others, then your business won’t move. This is the cost of waiting. Waiting will not make your business grow given how there are things that you can finish now. Explore the things that hold you back and realize how to move ahead.

The Cost of Waiting

I am regarding some business nuggets that will help in some capacity and I don’t know if this is a business nugget per se, but it’s the right thing. This episode is on the cost of waiting. What is the cost of waiting? I’m going to read you some cool quotes. “The spoils go to the trailblazer.” This is me talking. “Do you ever read incredible books about people that went second? Don’t get good, get done.” Here’s my favorite when it comes to the cost of waiting, “If not now, then when? If not me, then who?” Many famous people used that quote as their anchor to do something great. There was the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. He put it on his wall and he even put it in his shoe. It was all about, “We’re going to win this thing in the Super Bowl, if not me leading this team, then who? If not now, then when?”

Is there something in your life that you know you should be doing? Is there something you should be starting? Is there something you should be trying? I want you to ask, why are you waiting? Is it possible that maybe that thought was given to you? Maybe you were inspired by somebody else. Maybe other people are counting on you to do something. Maybe you’ve been given a gift. Who knows? Is the reason you are waiting because of what people might think?

Everybody is self-absorbed. Nobody is actually thinking about you. Click To Tweet

Are you waiting because of what people might think? Here’s a newsflash, everybody is self-absorbed. Everybody, you, and me, we’re all self-absorbed. Nobody is actually thinking about you. Even if you win and you get a gold medal or you fail, they might think about you for a nanosecond and then the rest of the world, family included, is thinking about themselves. It is psychologically proven. If you’re not doing something because you’re afraid of what others might think, shame on you. Here’s the number one reason why you should dive in headfirst. Let’s presuppose that you fail, so freaking what? What if you bankrupt your whole household. I’ve almost done that three times, so what? That’s life, you will get over it.

TGP 254| Cost Of Waiting
Cost Of Waiting: Even if you fail, you’ll eventually get over the failure.

I know that you will get over this as an absolute fact because every person reading this blog, every single one of you has had numerous devastating, traumatizing, and some even horrific events that have happened to you. Every one of you has had total trauma in your life. Maybe when you were a kid, something happened, maybe when you were a teenager, an adult. There is nobody reading this that has to rub a dub their way through life and everything’s been squeaky clean. Everybody has dealt devastating blows. If you are on the fence right now and you’re about to do something bold, you’re thinking about starting a business or quitting your job or asking for a promotion or asking the hottest woman walking out for a date, do it and do it now.

Fail forward. Click To Tweet

The reason I know you can do it is because even if you fail, so freaking what? You will get over the failure because you’ve gotten over every other traumatic, devastating thing that has happened to you in your life and you’re still here. You’re on the right side of the grass. You’re breathing, so you can grow yourself and your business. You are a champion going forward. Fail forward. If you’re about to do something, do it already. The cost of waiting is crippling. If not now, then when? Everything is harder later.

Have you ever tried to start a diet later? Every single year that goes by, the male’s metabolism drops 1%. That means 30 years from today, my metabolism will be 30% slower than today. It’s going to be harder to start a diet tomorrow. Growing a business is much harder to start it tomorrow than today. Why? You’re younger now and you have more energy. Freaking do it. If not you, then who? Do it and do it now. Hope this helps.
